As the Arabian forces advanced further into the southern lands of Kurdistan, the majestic Duhok Bridge loomed ominously in their path. This massive bridge connected the Gateway of Kurdistan’s southern territories with the lands of Bashur, and it had become the key artery through which Zuhak’s armies easily traversed into Kurdish territory. King Kardox, faced with the brutal onslaught of the Arabian invaders, realized that he needed to slow down their advance and buy precious time for the Kurdish people to regroup and escape the horrors of the surprise attack. In a desperate gambit, King Kardox ordered the destruction of the Duhok Bridge, a move that would not only impede the enemy’s progress but also inflict heavy casualties upon their ranks. The Kurdish defenders wasted no time in mobilizing their trebuchets, massive siege engines that had served them well in battles past. With the Arabian forces drawing ever closer to the bridge, the trebuchets unleashed their fury. Enormous stones, infused with burning tar and fire, were hurled with tremendous force toward the colossal structure. The sky above the bridge darkened as the projectiles arced through the air, their fiery tails leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. The impact of the flaming stones upon the Duhok Bridge was cataclysmic. The wooden structure groaned and splintered, and flames roared as the tar ignited. The deafening roar of the explosion was followed by the shattering of timbers and the cries of agony from those unfortunate enough to be caught on the bridge. The bridge buckled under the relentless assault, and with an ear-splitting crash, it collapsed into the churning waters below.

Many enemy fighters met a fiery demise, their screams fading into the chaos. In reality, the Arabian forces were still too numerous to be completely halted by the destruction of the bridge. However, King Kardox’s gambit had achieved its primary goal. The remnants of the Kurdish defenders were given a precious respite, allowing them to save innocent civilians and retreat to the relative safety of Bashur. The destruction of the Duhok Bridge had bought them the time they needed to regroup and plan their next moves. As the echoes of the collapsing bridge reverberated through the land, King Kardox and his people understood the heavy toll of their actions. But in the face of an overwhelming enemy, they had made a sacrifice that would be remembered as a symbol of their determination and resilience in the darkest hour of their history. The Two Front War raged on…
